Google versus Microsoft billboards

March 1st, 2007

I was just able to grab a few shots of the new Google Earth billboards (see below) before the site went down. I think this has BIG POTENTIAL written all over it. However it could be nice to see someone doing something creative then just plain billboard space (yawn)

In what could be the most-seen show in MoMA’s history, Doug Aitken’s “Sleepwalkers” opened last night on the coldest night of the year in NYC so far this season. Sleepwalkers is a nighttime installation comprised of continuous sequences of film scenes projected onto facades that transform West 53rd and 54th streets into a vast outdoor multiplex. Turning MoMA inside-out by bringing public art to the exterior walls of the new iconic building for the first time, the project is a joint effort between MoMA and non-profit Creative Time, famous for enlivening the city with public art. It was challenging to be outside to watch the premiere, but it was well worth it.

Digital Guidance

January 15th, 2007

Because it's really hard to jump off!

I was intrigued by Jenny Hagy’s little blog project Indexed. Where she trys to make sense of the world by projecting life’s questions on graphs. She seems like a missing character in JPod. If you are working in internet or digital advertising and are 30 something this may make a lot more sense to you than any self help book or the bible. There is however something very bittersweet about all of this. In Le Grand Content many of life’s questions are tackled in flow diagrams which sadly only draws conclusions based on the glass empty/half full concept. Lacking scientific support to the arguments made on these websites I will be classifying this under Art i.e. something to make you think.
